It’s impressive that those New Flyer buses have held up so well over the years; they must have been a good investment for MARTA. It’s frustrating, though, when something like a bike rack malfunctions—especially if you were counting on using it. Maintenance teams might overlook smaller components like bike racks since they’re not essential to the bus’s operation, but they’re still so important for rider convenience.

Do you often use the bike racks on MARTA buses, or was this a one-off need? It’s such a great feature to have for cyclists trying to combine biking with public transit!

It’s impressive that those New Flyer buses have held up so well over the years; they must have been a good investment for MARTA. On Sunday, December 1st, I went down to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and wandered off to the nearest service station. I noticed Atlanta Police officers near the service station investigating a car break-in. After speaking with the registered owner of the vehicle, who alleged that someone had broken into his newer model Chevrolet Silverado truck with tinted windows and platinum rims, I learned that he had parked his vehicle there to attend the Atlanta Falcons game at MBS, trying to avoid the expensive stadium parking. When the Falcons lost the game by a landslide, he returned to find his truck with a shattered driver-side window and missing phones and GPS.��While the alleged victim waited for the Atlanta Police Department to write the report, I discussed his decision to park in the alley off Northside Drive. He explained that he needed a place to park for the game and didn't want to pay for parking. I asked why there were three officers for a simple auto break-in report, and he replied, "I'm Kamala Harris's brother, that's why there are so many officers here." I responded, "Is that why she lost the election for president?" We shared a laugh and went on with our evening.

Your first day cycling in Bogotá sounds incredible! The Usaquén neighborhood is such a vibrant area, and it must be amazing to see a diverse mix of cyclists—families, delivery riders, and others—sharing the road. The bike lanes are a great feature, making it feel safe and welcoming for everyone.

It's interesting how the high altitude and hilly terrain shape the cycling culture there, adding a unique challenge. And those raincoats are a must with the unpredictable weather! You really get a sense of community on the bike, don’t you? How did you feel riding through the city for the first time?

I was on the Metrolink train, leaving the Inland Empire to the airport . As the train chugged along, I couldn't help but feel nervous and thirsty. I remembered there was a water fountain on the train, so I went to fill up my cup. Just as I was about to take a sip, a kind Hispanic woman stopped me. "You shouldn't trust the water on this train, it's not very sanitary," she said with a concerned look. Before I could even thank her, she pulled out a sealed water bottle from her bag and handed it to me. I was touched by her unexpected act of kindness. As I sipped on the fresh water, I couldn't help but believe in the goodness of humanity. The woman's simple gesture reminded me that kindness is always around the corner, even in the most unexpected places. From that day on, I'll now make sure to always carry an extra bottle of water with me, just in case someone else needed it.
